Arc Guard System™ TVOC-2 is ABB’s leading product in electrical safety, providing top-tier protection for personnel and equipment against hazardous arc flash incidents. An arc flash is one of the most dangerous events in electrical installations, capable of causing severe harm. The time to interrupt an arc is critical, as it directly impacts the damage caused. TVOC-2 is an optical arc flash mitigation device with the fastest reaction time on the market, detecting light from an arc and sending a signal to the breaker in less than 1 ms. Combined with ABB’s Emax 2 circuit breaker, total arc fault clearing time is under 50 ms. If the switchgear is exposed to strong light that could cause nuisance tripping, the CSU-2 current sensing unit is used as an additional condition to detect current increases associated with an arc flash.
